Meet the Longhorns: Lake Travis’ Hudson Card knew he’d end up at Texas all along

Posted December 18th, 2019

Hudson Card, quarterback, Lake Travis

FYI: 4-stars; 6-2/179; No. 2-ranked dual-threat QB

Fabulous 55 ranking: 12th

Committed: May 25, 2018

What he brings to Texas’ table: Card picked UT over 22 other offers, including Ohio State, Alabama and Auburn. He was District 25-6A newcomer of the year in 2017 when he starred at wide receiver for the Cavaliers, catching 69 passes for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added six rushing touchdowns, six passing touchdowns and three interceptions on defense.

He became Lake Travis’ starting quarterback as a junior and led his team to consecutive appearances in the Class 6A Division I state semifinals. Last year he passed for 3,543 yards and 50 touchdowns, rushing 110 times for 619 yards and nine touchdowns. He missed a large portion of his senior season with a foot injury, but he returned for the playoffs and is healthy.

Card will enroll in January and participate in spring practice.

He said it: β€œIt’s been my dream school my whole life, so that was a big reason (for committing in May 2018). I might as well focus on high school and winning a state championship since I knew where I wanted to end up. It feels good to get it out of the way and off my chest.” β€” Card
