About Texas: This will mark the home debut for first-year coach Shaka Smart. The Longhorns have won 13 straight home openers, and the team is 33-5 in home debuts since the Erwin Center opened prior to the 1977-78 season. … This game also marks the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. UT will play the next three rounds in the Bahamas during Thanksgiving week. … Cam Ridley set a career high with seven blocks in the season-opening loss against Washington. Smart said he wants to get both Ridley and Prince Ibeh more offensive touches against the Islanders.

About Texas A&M-Corpus Christi: The Islanders are off to a rocky start. They had 26 turnovers in a win over NAIA-based Our Lady of the Lake. There was better ball control Thursday in a 95-70 loss to system brethren Texas A&M. In that game, Bryce Douvier had a game-high 28 points and was 3 for 6 from 3-point range. But the Aggies dominated inside, shooting 54.4 percent from the floor and getting 12 more rebounds. … Don’t expect the Islanders to come in overwhelmed. Nine players have at least five career starts. … The school’s basketball program began during the 1999-2000 season and has a lifetime 239-240 record.
