The University of Texas women’s basketball team has risen to No. 5 in the nation — in a tie with Maryland — in Monday’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The Longhorns, who defeated Mississippi State and Arkansas-Little Rock last week, received 656 points from a panel of 32 national journalists. They improved to 7-0. The Longhorns will return to the court against No. 14 Stanford at noon Sunday in the Erwin Center.

UConn (6-0) received all 32 first-place votes. South Carolina, Notre Dame and Baylor remain second, third and fourth, respectively, in the poll.
