BEAVERTON, Ore. — In front of a national stage, Marvin Wilson showed why he’s the top senior in Texas, earning MVP honors among the 20 defensive linemen at The Opening.

Wilson, the Bellaire Episcopal defensive tackle who’s ranked No. 1 on the American-Statesman’s Fabulous 55, was honored at Sunday’s closing ceremonies at Nike’s world headquarters. The nation’s top-ranked defensive tackle, Wilson (6-4, 330) lived up to his hype over the past three days by overpowering his competitors on the offensive line.

Additionally, Wilson’s high school teammate, offensive tackle Walker Little, was named one of The Opening’s top six offensive linemen .

Wilson and Little both are considering Texas.

“I’m more than happy with the way I played,” Wilson said. “I felt fully comfortable. I feel like I live in Oregon now.”

Aside from Wilson, defensive linemen honored as the best in camp were UCLA commit Jaelan Phillips (from California), Washington commit Marlon Tuipulotu (Oregon), uncommitted Jordan Williams (Virginia) and Duke commit Drew Jordan (Georgia).

Joining Little as top offensive linemen were MVP Foster Sarell (Washington), Ohio State commit Wyatt Davis, uncommitted Cesar Ruiz (IMG Academy), Alabama commit Alex Leatherwood (Florida) and uncommitted Jamaree Salyer (Georgia).

Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa, who led Team Vapor Speed to the 7-on-7 championship, was named the Elite 11 MVP. The left-hander from Hawaii was dominant at The Opening and at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles last month.

Also, La Grange running back JK Dobbins received a trophy for scoring the highest mark in the Nike Football Test earlier in camp.
