Johnson was injured last year during Texas’ 48-45 loss to Texas Tech in November, but had been flashing moves during fall camp that were NFL-worthy. in 2015, he totaled eight carries for 44 yards.
As a 2015 recruit from San Jose, Calif., Johnson was considered one of the top 30 running backs in the nation. He rushed for 1,048 yards and scored 12 times as a senior at Valley Christian.
