Longhorn lineman Connor Williams expects to play against Texas Tech

To celebrate Halloween, Texas linebacker Timothy Cole wore cowboy boots on Monday.

Since the boots belonged to teammate Andrew Beck, who was leaving the Carpenter-Winkel Centennial Room, Cole actually had to swap the boots for sneakers by the time he met the media.  Another one of his teammates, though, chatted while wearing a different type of boot.

Texas offensive lineman Connor Williams wore a protective boot on Monday. Williams said he was wearing the boot as a precaution after he injured his right ankle in the first quarter of last week’s game against Baylor. Williams remained in the 35-34 win over Baylor.

Texas’ starting left tackle in seven of its games, Williams expects to play against Texas Tech on Saturday. Texas announced, though, that its offense will be without junior receiver Lorenzo Joe this weekend.

A team spokesman said that Joe is still being evaluated for a shoulder injury. Joe ranks ninth among the Longhorns in receptions, but a career-long 61-yard catch set up a fourth-quarter touchdown against Baylor.
