Scouting Ingram: Ingram is a throwback in an era of shifty running backs. He’s a big, bruising runner with versatility. The Carthage star gets better as the game progresses, doing his best work late in the third quarter and into the fourth. He’s a proven workhorse with a state championship ring.
As a junior, he rushed for 2,244 yards and 32 touchdowns. It’s not just his running ability that’s drawing college coaches to the 5-11, 190-pound running back — he added 47 receptions for 492 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver. Ingram’s ability to play three downs makes him a unique prospect in today’s age of specialists.
A four-star recruit, Ingram is the No. 24-ranked running back in the nation. Expect that rank to rise if he can duplicate his junior year production as a senior. He doesn’t possess sprinter’s speed like some of the other top running backs in the state. He won’t break many 80-yard runs against quality defenses. But he might be the most well-rounded running back prospect in the state, which has earned him offers from programs like Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. That list will only grow through the spring.
