Scouting Ahmad: Ahmad became a household name in prep circles after his sophomore season, when Colleyville Heritage coach Joe Willis opened up the Panthers offense in 2015 and Ahmad became the top benefactor. He caught 67 passes for 1,399 yards and 18 touchdowns. His production accounted for about half of that in 2016  as other targets emerged on offense.

The explosiveness and play-making ability that made Ahmad an all-state nominee as a sophomore make him one of the top prospects in the 2018 cycle. He picked up an offer from Baylor around national signing day and should watch his offer list grow with camp visits throughout the spring and summer. He’s just over 6-feet tall and 183 pounds, making him a candidate to play outside or in the slot.

Ahmad is a polished receiver with a solid understanding of route concepts. He’s quick in and out of breaks and does a good job catching the ball with his hands as opposed to letting it hit his body. He’ll need to improve his consistency and show college recruiters that he’s closer to the player who put up video game numbers as a sophomore, not the one who came back to earth as a junior.
