Scouting the Fabulous 55: No. 38, wide receiver Joshua Fleeks

Maybe he's a running back. Maybe he's a receiver. Either way, Cedar Hill's Fleeks is electric when the ball is in his hands.

Scouting Fleeks: Not many players in the state are as electric with the ball in their hands as Fleeks. Cedar Hill’s 6-0, 170-pound three-star athlete already holds offers from schools in the Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC. Why? His potential. Fleeks debuted on Cedar Hill’s varsity his sophomore season as a backup running back. As a junior, he was utilized in the slot and caught 53 passes for 663 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s spent most of his young career playing running back, so he isn’t the most polished wide receiver. Fleeks excels at turning underneath routes into long gains because of his background as a running back.

There’s a chance Fleeks ends up playing running back in college. It’s his natural position and one he’d excel at with more weight added to his long frame. The quickest route to a Power 5 school, however, might be at receiver. He showed glimpses of real talent in the slot. He’s the type of athlete a coach gets on campus and then finds out what position works best. His upside is unquestioned and a big senior year could shoot him up the rankings.
