Scouting Jones: The four-star safety blends a variety of traits into a top-notch prospect. Jones is a safety by trade, but he’s capable of matching up with wide receivers like a cornerback. That’s a great trait to possess in modern football with so many offenses moving to three- and four-receiver sets. Jones is an instinctual player who prefers to read and react to the flow of a play instead of maintaining a specific assignment. He’s not the biggest safety in the state, but he’s a willing tackler and more than capable in run support.

Jones is the No. 235 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 20-ranked safety. He can play free or strong safety, as well as nickel corner. There are few secondary prospects with Jones’ versatility. He holds 10 offers because of those talents. Right now, Texas Tech and Oklahoma appear to be battling it out for his signature. Jones’ high football IQ combined with his natural skills make him a safety prospect with plenty of upside.
