Scouting Vongor: Physical and athletic, Vongor patrols a high school secondary with as much attitude and confidence as any safety in the state. He packs the punch of a run-supporting strong safety, but has the coverage skills of a free safety prospect. He could play either spot in college, or even into a hybrid linebacker/safety spot in a 4-2-5 defense like the one TCU runs. It’s that type of versatility that makes him a borderline top-20 prospect in the state. He has offers from top programs like Alabama and Clemson. Vongor is rated as the No. 131 overall prospect in the country and the No. 13-rated safety.

Vongor is raw because he’s spent time playing offense in high school. He’ll improve his technique in college when he can concentrate solely on safety. His top-end speed might prevent him from playing free safety, but he can become a box-safety who excels in run support and can cover tight ends and running backs. Elite receivers could cause him problems vertically because he lacks elite track speed.
