Colin Markes advances to quarterfinals of Racquet Club Invitational

Colin Markes, a junior at Texas, took two wins to advance to the quarterfinals of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland on Friday.

Markes defeated Eddie Stoica of Wichita St. 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) for his first win of the day.

He followed that up with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Kai Breitbach of UTSA in the round of 16.


John Mee, a UT senior, went 1-1 on the day. He defeated Jaime Barajas of Utah 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). He was eliminated by Ferran Calvo in the round of 16, however. Calvo, who plays for Oklahoma, won 6-2, 6-4.
