Texas men’s golf team moves up at Illini Invitational

The Texas men’s golf team finished the second day of the Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club in 11th place Saturday.

The No. 6 Longhorns shot 283, a 14-stroke improvement, to move up two spots. At 19 over par, the Longhorns are 19 strokes behind first place Alabama.

Davis Riley of Alabama leads the individuals after shooting 67 in the second round. His total of 133 is one shot ahead of Nick Hardy of Illinois and Shintaro Ban of UNLV.


Nick Costello had the best round of the day for Texas, shooting a 69 to move up to a tie for 45th. He had five birdies in the round.

Kristoffer Reitan and Steven Chervony each shot 71 to sit in a tie for 24th. Both have a total of 143 through two rounds for Texas.

Scottie Scheffler shot 72 to move into a tie for 37th.

Spencer Soosman shot 75, improving by five strokes, to move to a tie for 64th.
