Six Longhorns advanced to the second round of the Debbie Southern Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C., on Friday. Furman University is hosting the event.

“To win all six of our singles matches today, that’s as encouraging of a start to the year as we could have hoped for,” UT coach Howard Joffe said. “It’s not so much from perspective of the winning, but of the quality of players we were able to defeat today from the likes of Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Tennessee and others.”

Petra Granic topped Anna Vrbenska 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the flight one women’s singles.
