The Texas men’s tennis team won three matches at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Friday.
Harrison Scott advanced to the third round of the main singles draw with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Jordi Arconada of Texas A&M.
“Harrison’s level of play improved in the third set, and he outplayed his opponent at the end,” UT head coach Michael Center said. “Arconada is a great player and a very good athlete.”
Scott, ranked 22nd, will face top-seeded Mikael Torpegaard of Ohio State on Saturday.
Scott also advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles as he teamed up with Yuya Ito. The duo defeated Luis Erlenbusch and Tyler Schick of Tulane, 6-3, 6-3.
Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles also advanced to the doubles quarterfinals. The Texas team topped Nathan Ponwith and Emil Reinberg of Georgia 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-0).
