Harrison Scott and a pair of Texas doubles teams were eliminated from the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Saturday.

Scott, ranked No. 22, was defeated by top-seeded Mikael Torpegaard of Ohio State 7-5, 6-3 in the singles main draw round of 16.

“We went 0-3 today, but the guys really played well and I’m proud of their effort,” said UT head coach Michael Center. “Harrison played the No. 1 player and was right there. He had some set points in the first set but came short.”

Scott was up 5-3 in the first set but four straight wins by Torpegaard sealed the first set. Torpegaard advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3 win in the second set.

Scott teamed up with Yuya Ito in the doubles quarterfinals. The duo faced William Blumberg and Robert Kelly of North Carolina, falling 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).

Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles also couldn’t get beyond the quarterfinals as they fell to a team from Florida. Johannes Ingildsen and Alfredo Perez defeated the Texas team 7-6, 6-4.

“We have to work on some things, but the attitude, effort and level of play were outstanding,” Center said. “All of these guys had a very good tournament.”

The Longhorns return to action on Oct. 13. They’ll compete at the UTSA Cup in San Antonio.
