Longhorns swimming and diving team competes at double dual in Florida

The Texas women’s swimming and diving team won seven events at the double dual meet in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday. The No. 2 Texas men’s team earned three wins on the day.

The Texas women, ranked third nationally, leads Indiana 138-105 and Florida 167.5-75.5 after the first day of competition.

Meghan O’Brien won the three-meter diving event with 349.50 points. Murphy Bromberg took fourth with 301.25 in her return to competition after a redshirt year. She also took third in the one-meter event.

Joanna Evans won the 1,000 yard freestyle in 9 minutes, 45.93 seconds for the Longhorns first swimming win. Evans also won the 500 freestyle in 4:46.64.

Brooke Hansen won the 100 butterfly in 53.51 seconds.

Rebecca Millard took a victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.86 seconds. She also won the 100 freestyle in 49.71.

Claire Adams won the 100 backstroke in 52.52.

On the men’s side, Texas trails Indiana 134-109 and Florida 140-103. Indiana leads Florida 138-105.

Joseph Schooling won the 100 butterfly with a time of 46.57, edging out the world champion Caeleb Dressel of Florida.

Jordan Windle took two wins on the day for Texas. The freshman won the one-meter diving event with 390.70 points. He also took the three-meter event with 388.25 points. Grayson Campbell took second with 376.40.

Action concludes on Saturday.
