Longhorns in second place at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

Texas senior golfer Doug Ghim shot 67 in the second round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. to lead Texas to a tie for second place.

The Longhorns shot 279 for the second day in a row to sit at 558, 18 under par. Wake Forest shot 271 to lead by five strokes at 553, 23 under par. Duke is tied with Texas and Georgia Tech is in fourth.

Ghim shot 66 in the first round on the way to shooting 133 through two rounds. He’s 11 under par and one stroke behind Alex Smalley of Duke. Ghim made six birdies on the day. He has 13 birdies through two rounds.


A trio of Longhorns sit in a tie for 32nd place. Scottie Scheffler shot 70, Nick Costello shot 71 and Spencer Soosman also shot 71. They all sit at 142, 2 under par. Scheffler made four birdies in the round. Costello made two birdies as did Soosman. Soosman also had an eagle on the day.

Kristoffer Reitan shot 73 to sit in a tie for 43rd place. He’s even for the tournament, making all the Longhorns even or better through two rounds.

The tournament concludes on Sunday.
