Posted October 27th, 2017

The Texas Longhorns concluded the Big 12 soccer regular season with a 1-0 overtime loss to Oklahoma State at Myers Stadium on Friday night.

The Longhorns will be the No. 4 seed in next week’s Big 12 Championship tournament. They’ll face Baylor in Kansas City, Mo. at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

After starting conference play with three straight wins, the Longhorns went 2-2-2 the rest of the way.

Oklahoma State takes the regular season title, finishing with an 8-1 record in Big 12 play.

Laurene Tresfield scored on a header in the 100th minute, assisted by Anna Beffer, to lift the Cowgirls to victory. Just 46 seconds remained in first overtime when Tresfield scored. The defender had three shots in the game, two on goal.

A win for Texas would have been a school-record sixth overtime victory. The Longhorns have played in a school-record-tying eight overtime contests this season.

Nicole Curry made five saves on the night for Texas but couldn’t keep the shutout. Michela Ongaro kept a clean sheet for Oklahoma State.

The Cowgirls outshot the Longhorns 16-13 with six on goal to the Longhorns’ four.

Oklahoma State also held the edge in corner kicks, 9-4.

Cyera Hintzen and Kayra Dollas each had three shots for the Horns, but neither cashed in.
