Texas women’s tennis player Bianca Turati advanced to the round of 32 of the ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, Calif. Wednesday.
Turati defeated Taylor Russo of Auburn 6-4, 6-1. She’ll face fourth-seeded Ena Shibahara of UCLA Thursday in the second round.
“Bianca Turati came through with a very solid victory against a tremendous competitor and player from Auburn,” UT assistant coach Taylor Fogleman said.
Petra Granic was unable to get past Alle Sanford of North Carolina. The Texas sophomore fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Dani Wagland and Marta Perez-Mur fell to Karla Popovic and Olivia Hauger of California 6-3, 6-3 in doubles competition. The Texas duo will continue playing in the consolation draw.
