Posted November 3rd, 2017

The Texas men’s doubles tandem of Leonardo Telles and Rodrigo Banzer upset the top seed in doubles competition at the ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, Calif. Friday.

Telles and Banzer topped Johannes Ingildsen and Alfredo Perez of Florida 6-2, 6-1. It was a convincing win by the eighth-seeded Longhorns.

The Texas duo will face Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge of Wisconsin in the semifinal Saturday.

The ITA National Fall Championships event is the second out of three majors in college tennis. The ITA All-American Championships occurred last month. The final major of the season will be contested in May.

The inaugural ITA National Fall Championships replaces the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships that was previously held annually in November.
