Texas women’s golf team in fourth at Battle at the Beach

The Texas women’s golf team sits in fourth place after shooting 286 in the first round of the Battle at the Beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Sophia Schubert shot a first-round 70 to lead the Longhorns. Finishing at 1-under-par has the senior in a tie for eighth place. She led the field in pars with 15.

Kaitlyn Papp shot 71, even to sit in a tie for 17th. The freshman had five birdies on the day.


Greta Isabella Voelker carded a 1-over-par 72 in the first round. She’s tied for 20th and is one of just two golfers who recorded an eagle in the round.

Emilee Hoffman, Agathe Laisne and Maren Cipolla each shot 73. Cipolla competed as an individual and had her second-best round in college. Laisne had five birdies in the round.

The Oklahoma Sooners lead the team standings after shooting 281. Leonie Harm of Houston and Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest both shot 67 in the round to sit tied atop the leaderboard.
