Longhorns women’s golf team moves up at Battle at the Beach

The Texas Longhorns women’s golf team moved up two spots at the Battle at the Beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Saturday.

Texas shot 281 as a team to sit in second place tie after two rounds of action. The Longhorns’ total of 567 is just five strokes back of Oklahoma. The No. 11 Horns are tied with top-ranked UCLA.

Sophia Schubert shot a 68 in the second round to lead Texas. She’s tied for second at 138, 4-under-par, one stroke back of Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest. Schubert made four birdies in the round.


Agathe Laisne had the second-best round for the Longhorns as she shot 70. She and freshman Kaitlyn Papp sit in a tie for 11th. Papp, who shot 72, had the most pars in the round with 15. Laisne and Papp sit at 1-over-par 143 for the tournament.

Emilee Hoffman shot a 71 in the second round to move to a tie for 17th. She’s at 2 over par for the tournament.

One shot back of Hoffman is Maren Cipolla, who is competing as an individual. She shot 72 on the day.

Greta Isabella Voelker shot 74 in the round to sit in a tie for 30th at 4-over-par 146.

The Longhorns made 63 pars on the day, best among the field.

The final round of the tournament starts at 9 a.m. Sunday.
