Texas women’s swimming team tops NC State

The second-ranked Texas women’s swimming team defeated No. 12 NC State while the No. 9 men’s team fell to fifth-ranked NC State in a dual meet in Raleigh, N.C. Friday.

The women won 13 of 16 events to top NC State 184-116. The Texas men fell 176-116 even though they swept the diving events and won three races.

Murphy Bromberg won the one-meter diving event with 301.95 points and Alison Gibson took the three-meter competition with 348.90 points.


The women then won the 400-yard medley relay. Claire Adams, Olivia Anderson, Remedy Rule and Rebecca Millard teamed up to finish in 3 minutes, 36.13 seconds.

The Longhorns finished 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle. Rule won in 1:48.16 with Quinn Carrozza second in 1:48.17. Evie Pfiefer took third in 1:48.44. Rule also won the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.13.

Anderson won the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:03.88 before Lauren Case won the 200 butterfly in 1:59.86. Anderson also won the 200 breastroke with a time of 2:13.85.

Joanna Evans took the 500 freestyle in 4:42.28.

Pfeifer, a freshman, took a win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:13.14.

The Texas women’s swimming team finished off the night with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. Adams, Millard, Brooke Hansen and Rule teamed up to win in 1:30.71.

For the men, Jordan Windle won the three-meter diving competition with 465.60 points. Jacob Cornish won the one-meter event with 382.12.

Joseph Schooling won the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.17 before Jonathan Roberts took the 200 individual medley in 1:54.11.

The last victory for the men was in the 400 freestyle relay. Schooling, Brett Ringgold, Jacob Huerta and Townley Haas won in 3:01.10.
