Posted November 16th, 2017

Texas freshman diver Jordan Windle won the men’s one-meter title while Meghan O’Brien took home the women’s three-meter title at the UT Diving Invitational at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center Thursday.

Windle scored 398.50 points to secure the win. He passed teammate Jacob Cornish after the fifth of six rounds to claim the win.

The current U.S. national champion has competed for Team USA twice at the World Championships. His fourth dive, a forward, two-and-a-half somersault with a twist in the pike position, earned him 73.6 points.

Cornish finished in second with 373.75 points. His meet-best 78 points on his third dive helped him along the way.

Reed Merritt took 10th place with 234.80 points.

On the women’s side, O’Brien earned 376.70 points as she totaled at least 60 points on all six of her dives. She’s the current Big 12 diver of the week and earned 67.5 points on her best dive of the night.

Murphy Bromberg took fourth place with 355.10 points while Alison Gibson finished in fifth with 351.15 points.
