Posted January 9th, 2018

This weekend, the Texas men’s tennis team will host the Longhorn Invitational at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center. Then the Longhorns will move into their new home.

The grand opening for the Texas Tennis Center has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. The men, who are ranked eighth nationally, will then play SMU in a match that will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Texas’ tennis program has been without a home court since the Penick-Allison Tennis Center was razed in 2014.

The men will actually christen the Texas Tennis Center on Jan. 19 when they play dual matches against UTSA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The following day, the 12th-ranked UT women will host Texas State and UT-Rio Grande Valley in their first appearances at the 12-court facility.

The Texas Tennis Center is located just north of UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Admission to all regular-season tennis matches is free.
