Ariel Atkins scored 22 points and Lashann Higgs added 17 to lead No. 7 Texas to a 79-62victory over Kansas in the Big 12 game Saturday afternoon at the Erwin Center.
Texas improves to 14-2 overall, 5-1 in the Big 12. Kansas is 11-6, 2-4.
Joyner Holmes had her best game since returning from a 10-game suspension, contributing 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Kansas took command of the first half with a 10-2 run to close the first quarter to take a 20-16 lead. Guard Christalah Lyons scored 9 points in the first half to help the Wildcats claim a 31-29 lead at the break.
At halftime, about 50 former Longhorns were introduced to the crowd as part of Texas Exes weekend.
Texas rallied in the third quarter, outscoring the Jayhawks 28-19 to take a 57-50 lead after three quarters. Atkins, Holmes and Higgs kept the pressure on in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
Sophomore guard Sug Sutton made her third career start, replacing injured forward Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau (right quad) and scored a career-high 14 points. Caron-Goudreau rode a stationary bicycle behind the Longhorns bench for most of the game.
Karen Aston is 10-1 against Kansas during her tenure with the Longhorns.
Texas will take a break from its Big 12 schedule by playing host to top-ranked UConn. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at the Erwin Center and will be televised by ESPN2.
