The Dotted Line: Texas casts out new offers to 2019 prospects

Net widens in 2019 recruiting cycle
As the search for recruits in the 2018 class narrows for the Texas staff, the Longhorns are busy finding more options to fill the 2019 class. The Longhorns hold one commitment in the 2019 cycle — quarterback Roschon Johnson of Port Neches-Groves.
Tom Herman’s staff is focused on closing out the 2018 class, which currently consists of 21 commitments and ranks third in the nation and first in the Big 12. Nineteen of the 21 commits signed during the early period in December.
That doesn’t mean the staff won’t start building relationships with more prospects for 2019. The early signing period sped up an already quick recruiting process, which now allows prospects to take official visits in the spring instead of only during their senior seasons.

Expect Texas to sign close to a full class in 2019, much like 2018. The Longhorns could already be done at quarterback, giving the class a leader and the staff the opportunity to spread resources to other positions. The top needs in the 2019 cycle for the Longhorns is wide receiver, offensive line and defensive line.
