Peter Mpagi completes dream

Texas picked up its 10th commitment of the 2019 cycle on Saturday when three-star defensive end Peter Mpagi chose the Longhorns over Stanford, Washington and Northwestern. The 6-4, 224-pound prospect from Houston George Ranch was a late bloomer on the football field. He played half of his sophomore season on varsity after starting the year on junior varsity. He became a first-team all-district selection as a junior when he finished the 2017 season with 33 tackles and nine sacks.

At what age did you fall in love with football?

At five, because of my best friend.

What made Texas your choice?

Texas was my dream school. I’ve always grown up watching them.

What are your goals as a senior?

I want 15 sacks and to lead the district in sacks and tackles for loss. First-team all-district, area and all-state.

What was most important to you as a recruit?

Playing time and academics.

What word would you use to describe Tom Herman?

Respectful, determined and funny.

Where do you see yourself playing at Texas?

Weakside defensive end or the seven-technique.

What artist would you most like to see live?

Lil Uzi Vert.

Favorite movie?

Avengers Infinity War.

Favorite athlete of all-time?

Khalil Mack.

Favorite sport to watch other than football?
