Hudson Card readies to lead 2020 class

Texas started its 2020 class the same way it began its 2019 class — with a quarterback. Lake Travis’ Hudson Card pledged to the Longhorns in May after picking up an offer at the Orange-White game in April. The four-star dual-threat quarterback spent his sophomore season playing wide receiver while backing up senior quarterback Matthew Baldwin, who signed with Ohio State in 2018.

Card was the District 25-6A newcomer of the year after recording 69 catches for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Card is expected to start at quarterback for Lake Travis as a junior. He took over for Baldwin in the Class 6A Division I championship game after Baldwin was injured and nearly led the Cavaliers to a win over Allen. He threw for 604 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. Card is a life-long UT fan who didn’t wait to pull the trigger despite offers from nearly every major program in the country.
