The Dotted Line: Commitment Q&A with Texas commitment Marques Caldwell
Posted July 30th, 2018
Alvin defensive back Marques Caldwell pledged to the Longhorns on July 7 and is now one of 13 members of the 2019 cycle committed to Texas. Caldwell was the third defensive back, joining four-star cornerback Kenyatta Watson II and four-star safety Chris Adimora. Caldwell ranks No. 54 on the 2019 Fabulous 55. He’s one of four players on the list committed to the Longhorns. Caldwell is a 6-foot-1 cornerback who is approaching 190 pounds. He can play safety or cornerback at the next level. He was named a second-team all-district selection as a junior and has four career interceptions.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

At what age did you fall in love with football?
I don’t know exactly what age I was when I fell in love with football. I was real young, so I’ll say I was in Pee Wee football when it happened.
What made Texas your choice?
Texas was my choice because it’s Texas football. Playing in the best state at the highest level. My family is closer, I loved the coaches and it felt like home. I can thrive with coach (Jason) Washington being a long defensive back. Check his record with long, physical defensive backs.
What are your goals as a senior?
To lead my district in all the major stats at my position and be the team leader.
What was most important to you as a recruit?
All of it. Playing time, campus life, academics, the coaching staff. It was the complete picture at Texas.
What word would you use to describe Tom Herman?
A chill, laid-back coach who loves to have fun, but when it’s time to settle down and get to work, he’s all about his business.
Where do you see yourself playing at Texas?
I will be playing corner and safety.
What artist would you most like to see live?
Either Lil’ Wayne or NBA Youngboy.
Favorite movie?
“Lion King” or “Life”
Favorite athlete of all-time?
LeBron James
Favorite sport to watch other than football?
Basketball
