The Dotted Line: Three Texas commits set to play in title games; four in-state pledges still alive

Three in-state 2019 commits remain in the playoffs, while three out-of-state pledges compete for state titles on Saturday. Four-star junior quarterback Hudson Card and Lake Travis are also still alive. Here is where to watch each of the prospects this weekend.

The in-state commits 

Cuero vs. Corpus Christi West Oso

Where: Heroes Stadium, San Antonio


When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Commits: Jordan Whittington, four-star wide receiver

Whittington returned from injury late in the season and helped Cuero secure a district championship. Cuero is the favorite to win Region IV.

Huntsville vs. Marshall

Where: Ford Center, Denton

When: Saturday, 8 p.m.

Commits: T’Vondre Sweat, three-star defensive end (Huntsville)

Huntsville won a district championship and Sweat should be in line for defensive MVP honors.

Port Neches-Groves vs. Fort Bend Marshall

Where: Stallworth Stadium, Baytown

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Commits: Roschon Johnson, four-star quarterback (Port Neches-Groves)

The four-star quarterback became his high school’s all-time leading passer in the win over Dayton during the regular season and is two wins away from a regional championship.

The out-of-state commits

Trinity Catholic (Mo.) vs. Cardinal Ritter College Prep (Mo.)

Where: St. Louis, Mo.

When: Saturday

Commits: Marcus Washington, four-star wide receiver (Marcus Washington)

Trinity Catholic and Marcus Washington compete for the Class 3A state title in Missouri.

Chandler (Ariz.) vs. Perry (Ariz.)

Where: Sun Devil Stadium (Ariz.)

When: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. Mountain

Commits: Brayden Liebrock, four-star tight end (Chandler)

Chandler reached the Class 6A title game and its only loss came in the first game of the year.

Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep vs. Centennial (Ariz.)

Where: Goodyear (Ariz.)

When: Saturday, 12:30 p.m. Mountain

Commits: Jake Smith, four-star wide receiver (Notre Dame)

Notre Dame Prep is undefeated entering the Class 5A championship.

The 2020 commitments

Lake Travis vs. Weslaco

Where: Alamodome, San Antonio

When: 4 p.m., Saturday

Commits: Hudson Card, four-star quarterback (Lake Travis)

Lake Travis hopes to return to the state championship and win it in 2018.
