The Dotted Line: Plenty of Texas commits reach bi-district round of state playoffs

Ten of Texas’ 16 in-state commitments for the 2020 class are ready for the bi-district round of the state playoffs, which kick off for some teams on Thursday. Pledges Hudson Card, Jaylen Garth and Xavion Alford would be playing if not for injury. The only in-state commitments to not make the playoffs are defensive tackle Vernon Broughton, slot receiver Ty Jordan and wide receiver Troy Omeire.

Two of Texas’ pledges hail from out of state. Van Fillinger (Utah) and Bijan Robinson (Arizona) are part of state championship contenders. Both players are already deep into their playoffs.

2021 recruits
Seven juniors are committed to Texas following this week’s decommitment of four-star wide receiver Quay Davis. The six healthy prospects made the playoffs. Lake Travis tight end Lake McRee is still recovering from surgery.
