Texas women’s tennis team blanks Brown 7-0

Turati twins remain unbeaten in dual-match singles play.

The seventh-ranked Texas women’s tennis team hammered Brown 7-0 Sunday to improve to 8-1 in dual matches.

Twins Anna and Bianca Turati coasted past Courtney Kowalsky and Devon Jack 6-1 and Marta Perez Mur and Gabby Cusano beat Gabriella Dellacono and Britany Lau 6-4 to take the doubles point.

The Longhorns polished off their second straight sweep and fourth dual-match victory in a row with six straight-set singles wins.


No. 2 Anna Turati kept her dual-match record unblemished at 8-0 as she steamrolled Jack 6-0, 6-0, and No. 42 Bianca Turati boosted her record to 7-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kowalsky.

Adri Nagy cruised past Lau 6-1, 6-1; Tijana Spasojevic rolled over Ryan Peus 6-2, 6-2; No. 125 Fernanda Labraña improved to 7-1 by beating Julia Newman 6-2, 7-6 (7-2); and Perez Mur capped the sweep by beating Peri Sheinin 6-2, 6-0.

Texas will face No. 3 Stanford at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Texas Tennis Center.
