Sophomore Hailee Cooper tied for 10th place with a 7-over-par 220 as the top-ranked Texas women’s golf team finished fifth in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Hilton Head, S.C.
Cooper’s rounds of 73, 75 and 72 added up to her first top 10 of the season, eight shots behind winner Emilia Migliaccio of Wake Forest. Furman’s Natalie Srinivasan was a stroke off the pace, and Migliaccio’s teammate Rachel Kuehn and Auburn’s Megan Schofill tied for third at 214, two strokes behind. Wake Forest’s Siyun Liu shot a 216 for fifth.
With three golfers in the top five, the Demon Deacons rolled to victory by 26 strokes, totaling a 3-over-par 855. Auburn was second at 881, followed by Duke at 884, UCLA at 885 and Texas at 888, 36 over par.
For the Longhorns, Agathe Laisne tied for 23rd at 222, Kaitlyn Papp tied for 29th at 223, Sophie Guo tied for 50th at 228, and Emilee Hoffman tied for 53rd at 229.
Texas will be back in action March 20, when it will begin play in the three-day Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.
