The Dotted Line: Week 1 guide to watch Texas commits in action

The football season begins in earnest this week with Texas high school football beginning and college football in its first official week. Every Texas commit in the 2020 and 2021 classes are in action at some point this weekend, starting Thursday night. Here’s a guide for watching those future Longhorns in action across the state:

2020 pledges

Fifteen of Texas’ 18 pledges in the 2020 class play in Texas. This is Week 1 for each of those players as the road to a state championship begins throughout the state. Game times range from Thursday night to Saturday night.

Out of state commits

Two of Texas’ three out-of-state pledges have already started the season; defensive end Van Fillinger and his Corner Canyon teammates are 2-0 in the quest to repeat as Class 6A champions in Utah, and four-star cornerback Ethan Pouncey and his Winter Park squad dropped its opener. Five-star running back Bijan Robinson begins his season on Friday.

Seven juniors are committed to Texas entering Week 1 of the Texas high school schedule. Only six will be in action, however, as Lake Travis tight end Lake McRee is out for the season with a knee injury.
