Austin Animal Services confirmed they received a report that a monkey bit a child on Halloween

Social media posts indicated that a pet monkey belonging to the girlfriend of a Texas Longhorns football coach might have bit a trick-or-treater Sunday night.

Animal Services is currently investigating the situation, city officials said.

Danielle Thomas, girlfriend of University of Texas assistant head coach Jeff Banks, responded to the allegations as the story spread rapidly on Twitter. Thomas later deleted her account.

"I had a haunted house on one side gated off ... I had no idea he went in my back yard," Thomas wrote on Twitter. "Neither did I know anything about a bite! Until a doctor of neighborhood told me."

The University of Texas did not immediately respond to an email seeking more information.
