Scouting Iowa State

Record: 6-4 (4-3 Big 12)

Best player: Breece Hall is Iowa State's biggest offensive weapon. The junior has run for 1,172 yards and a conference-leading 14 rushing touchdowns this season. Hall only ran for a season-low 79 yards against OU in 2020, but Iowa State will need a monster outing from its star back on Saturday if it wants to come out on top.

The case for Iowa State: Despite being inconsistent this season, the Cyclones are dangerous when hot. Iowa State's defense is capable of putting pressure on quarterback Caleb Williams thanks to Will McDonald and Eyioma Uwazurike. The two defensive ends have combined for 17.5 sacks this season, which is the third-most of any duo in the country. Hall is also poised for a strong outing after seeing Baylor's Abram Smith carve OU up to the tune of 148 rushing yards.

The case for Oklahoma: OU should play like a team that knows its College Football Playoff hopes are on the line. The Sooners' offense is still averaging a conference-high 40 points per game despite not doing much against the Bears, and the defense also played well up until the fourth quarter of that contest. OU still doesn't have a win that actually helps its playoff résumé this season, but it'll have that opportunity on Saturday.
