OSU vs. Baylor football: Spencer Sanders sets Big 12 title game record for INTs & more notable numbers

ARLINGTON, Texas — Oklahoma State was inches away. The fifth-ranked Cowboys’ bid for the Big 12 title fell just shy of a pylon on a dive by Dez Jackson with less than 30 seconds remaining Saturday afternoon as OSU fell to No. 9-ranked Baylor 21-16.

OSU now awaits its bowl destination, with the College Football Playoff chances over. Here is a look at the heartbreaking loss through the numbers:

65,771: Fans in AT&T Stadium. It’s the second-highest attended Big 12 Championship Game since it was reinstated in 2017, falling shy of the OU-Texas rematch in 2018.

17: Straight completions to open the game by Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen, a Big 12 Championship Game and AT&T Stadium record. He did not have an incompletion until 25 seconds remained in the first half. Shapen ultimately completed 23 of 28 passes for 180 yards.

36: Total yards for Baylor in the second half after totaling 206 in the opening half. The 242 total yards was a season low for the Bears.
