2021 All-Big 12 basketball: Texas' Jones, Collier head up Longhorns on teams

Texas post Charli Collier shoots over Kansas State defender Ashley Ray during a February game. Collier is projected to be a top pick in this year's WNBA draft.

Oklahoma State's Cade Cunningham and Butler's Jared Butler have been at the center of a great debate throughout the Great Plains this winter.

Who deserves to be the Big 12 men's basketball player of the year?

The answer: They both do. At least that's how our informal poll among USA Today Network sports writers who cover the Big 12 voted.

Cunningham, the Cowboys' star freshman and likely No. 1 pick in this summer's NBA Draft, has averaged 19.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this season.

Butler, the Bears' junior guard, is averaging 17.1 points and 5.0 assists per game.

Texas Andrew Jones and Charli Collier top our writers' list for the Longhorns. Collier, who declared for the WNBA draft earlier in the month, is at the top of draft projections. Jones leads Texas in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game.

Here's how we voted for the top men's and women's basketball honors this season in the Big 12:
