Longhorns earn Big 12 weekly honors

The Texas Longhorns swept the Big 12 weekly honors as men’s and women’s swimmers and divers of the week. Longhorns Jack Conger and Tasija Karosas were named men’s and women’s swimmers of the week while Mark Anderson and Meghan O’Brien were named divers of the week.

Conger was named the swimmer of the week as a result of his two individual wins at the Texas Invitational. He also helped the Longhorns win the 200 freestyle relay, the 400 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay. He took individual wins in the 200 butterfly and the 100 butterfly.

Anderson was named the diver of the week after taking two events at the Texas Invitational. He scored 443.85 points in his one-meter victory.


Karosas earned the swimmer of the week honor by virtue of her new records posted at the Texas Invitational. She lowered her school and Big 12 record in the 100 backstroke, swimming a time of 50.86. Karosas also helped UT win the 400 freestyle and 400 medley relays in addition to setting school and Big 12 records in the 800 freestyle relay.

O’Brien took the one-meter event at the Texas Invitational to earn her diver of the week award. Her 315.30 points was a season high.
