Texas divers qualify for World University Games

Three Texas Longhorns earned spots on Team USA for the World University Games at the USA Diving Winter National Championships on Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio.

Mark Anderson, Meghan O’Brien and Grayson Campbell will represent Team USA during the summer at the World University Games in Taiwan.

O’Brien and Campbell won the mixed three-meter synchronized final with 266.10 points, earning their spot with the victory. They defeated Kyle Goodwin and Lauren Reedy of Missouri by 5.1 points.


Anderson finished second-highest among the American competitors in the three-meter final. His 1,186.45 points through the preliminary, semifinal and final rounds were good for third overall.

Campbell took sixth overall and was the fifth-best American in the same event. He scored 1,109.55 points with soon-to-be Longhorn Jordan Windle .4 points back.

Texas freshman diver Alison Gibson previously qualified for the games in the one-meter event.

Gibson scored 267.80 points in the preliminary round and placed second in the final with 513.70 points. She earned a qualifying berth for the FINA World Championships as well as the World University Games.
