Texas men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams win in Georgia

Posted January 12th, 2019

Both the Texas men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams came away victorious in dual-meet action against Georgia on Saturday in Athens.

The No. 1 UT women won 169-129 against the No. 11 Bulldogs, and the No. 2 Texas men claimed a 162-133 win over No. 12 Georgia.

The women’s victory was the second straight at Georgia after the Bulldogs had won 103 straight dual meets at home. The Longhorns snapped that streak in 2017. This win is the Longhorns’ 19th straight in dual action.

Olivia Anderson and Claire Adams helped the Longhorns account for two wins. Anderson and Adams joined Julia Cook and Anelise Diener to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 39.33 seconds. Adams also won the 100 backstroke in 52.41. Anderson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.28.

The men’s win was the 19th straight over the Bulldogs.

Townley Haas took two wins on the day, in the 200 and 500 freestyle.

Jordan Windle and Grayson Campbell made it a sweep in the diving events, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter.

Charlie Scheinfeld also helped the Longhorns win two events as he swam a leg in the 200 medley relay and won the 100 breaststroke.
