Texas swimming and diving teams lead big at Big 12 Championships

Both Texas swimming and diving teams lead by nearly 100 points at the Big 12 Championships in Morgantown, W.Va., through two days of competition.

The top-ranked Texas men have 382 points while West Virginia trails with 291 points. The No. 10 Texas women have 370 points as Kansas trails with 276.

JohnThomas Larson won the 500 freestyle in 4 minutes, 16.65 seconds with Paker Neri taking second in 4:18.61.


The men also went 1-2-3 in the 200 IM and the 50 freestyle. Matthew Willenbring won the 200 IM with a time of 1:43.98. Daniel Krueger took the 50 freestyle in 19.19.

The 400-medley relay team set a Big 12 Championship meet record with a time of 3:04.13.

For the women, Evie Pfiefer won the 500 freestyle in 3:38.48.

Kelly Pash won the 200 IM in 1:55.91 while Bridget Semenuk won the 50 free in 22.33.

The Longhorn women also won the 400-medley relay in 3:31.40.

Alison Gibson won the 1-meter diving event with 323.35 points.

Action at the Big 12 Championships continues through Saturday.
