Kacy Clemens and Ryan Reynolds each homered as the Texas Longhorns baseball team defeated Kansas 5-3 in Lawrence on Friday night.
The win was the fourth straight Big 12 victory for Texas.
Travis Jones was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs while the Longhorns pounded out 11 hits on the night. David Hamilton also had two doubles as he went 2 for 3 and scored a run.
Nolan Kingham (4-2) picked up the win, allowing three runs on four hits through seven innings. He had five strikeouts and walked three. Beau Ridgeway earned his fifth save of the season as he allowed one hit in two innings of work while striking out two.
Clemens put the Longhorns up 1-0 in the first inning with his team-leading fifth home run of the season. The Jayhawks tied the game in the bottom half of the inning before both teams scored a run in the third inning.
Michael McCann’s single in the third put Texas back up 2-1, but Kansas once again tied the game on an RBI single by Matt McLaughlin. McLaughlin later homered as he finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Jones’ two-run double in the fourth is what put the Longhorns up for good.
Reynolds added the cherry on top with a solo home run in the sixth. It was his fourth homer of the season.
Jones, McCann, Austin Todd, Reynolds and Hamilton each finished with two hits.
