Texas closed out a three-game sweep and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 5-4 victory over Kansas on Sunday.
UT received a quality start from junior Chase Shugart, but its bullpen had to escape two jams to preserve the win. Josh Sawyer’s inning-ending strikeout left a runner on second base in the seventh frame. One inning later, Beau Ridgeway induced a two-out fly ball with the bases loaded.

Texas junior Andy McGuire hit a batter in the ninth inning but still recorded the first save of his career.
For the fourth straight game, Texas scored in the first inning. Masen Hibbeler sent Ryan Zeferjahn’s first pitch into the Kansas bullpen, and Kody Clemens soon followed with a two-run homer. UT scored again in the fourth and fifth innings to close out a 23-run weekend against the Jayhawks (12-7).
Texas (12-9) will return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday for a midweek battle with Sam Houston State.
