OMAHA, Neb. — A sixth-inning swoon cost UT dearly as Arkansas emerged victorious in both teams’ first game at the College World Series.
In the top of the fifth frame at TD Ameritrade Park, UT took a 2-1 lead on David Hamilton’s sacrifice fly. Arkansas countered with a two-run homer in the inning’s bottom half. The Razorbacks (45-19) then put the game away with eight runs in the sixth session.
In the sixth inning, six Texas pitchers allowed six singles and two bases-loaded walks. The inning also featured a weather delay that lasted nearly three hours.
Texas (42-22) will play either Florida or Texas Tech in an elimination game at 1 p.m. CST this Tuesday. UT last went two-and-out at the College World Series in 2011.
