The Texas men’s and women’s cross-country teams each finished seventh at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Ore. on Saturday.
Sam Worley had the men’s top finish in the 8,000-meter race, clocking a time of 23 minutes, 50.9 seconds for 11th place. John Rice finished in 24:15.8 with Haftu Knight turning in a time of 24:17.3.
“We didn’t travel across the country to finish seventh,” Texas men’s coach Pete Watson said. “We need to be better.”
For the women, Kathryn Gillespie took 26th just ahead of Destiny Collins. Gillespie finished the 6,000-meter race in 20:34.2 while Collins clocked in at 20:34.3.
Oregon won the men’s competition while BYU took the victory on the women’s side.
