Let’s use Texas’ roster, history and scouting reports to countdown to the start of the 2017 football season. Today, we are only 76 days away from Texas’ home game against Maryland.

Which Longhorn wears No. 76? Nobody. Kent Perkins, who made 34 career starts on the UT offensive line, was No. 76 on the Longhorns’ roster during the 2016 season. Perkins was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he reached a free-agent agreement with Cincinnati.

Who also wears No. 76? Texas Tech OL Paul Stawarz (eight starts in 2016)


Fun fact about No. 76: During the 2016 season, Texas ranked 76th among the 128 FBS-level teams in rushing defense (189.8 yards per game) and kick return defense (21.1 yards per kick). In regards to rushing defense, Texas was tied with Kent State.
