Texas golf team drops to eighth place at Nike Collegiate Invitational

No. 5 Texas slipped to a tie for eighth place after shooting a 9-over-par 289 in the second round of the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club on Monday in Fort Worth.
Vanderbilt is in the lead at 9 under and is one stroke ahead of Florida. Stanford’s Maverick McNealy and Oregon’s Wyndham Clark are tied for the lead at 6 under.
UT’s Gavin Hall shot a 1-over 71 in the second round and is tied for eighth place at 1 under. Texas’ Doug Ghim also shot a 71 and is tied with teammate Steven Chervony in 27th place at 3 over. Chervony followed an even-par 70 with a 73 on Monday. Texas junior Scottie Scheffler carded a 4-over 74 and is tied for 44th at 6 over.
